I was very much into Arcade Fire at the time, and you can hear their influence here on the layered guitar riffs. A 'written to order' track to start the album that is an account of the more hedonistic side of my life at the time and the 'morning after' contrast. The intro passage was inspired by the Arena documentaries soundtrack.
lyrics
All About White Out
It must be 2 or 3, I haven't checked the time, 'The End' by The
Doors is your only time out of mind
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out.
They're knocking at the window so I’ll lay my head, all my hopes
and fears are as good as dead.
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out.
Yeah, she looked like a star as she walked, in the morning sun from
my car, she said 'who do you think you are?!’
Her hair like dusty light I can barely see, life is beauty unimpressed, don't you agree?
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out.
Now we can barely speak a word so I'll make my way, thinking
Van Morrison's Astral Weeks would be a good one to play
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out.
Yeah, she looked like a star as she walked, in the morning sun from
my car, she said 'who do you think you are?!’
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out
And it's all about white out, and it's all about white out, yeah
And it's all about white out, yeah, and it's all about white out, yeah
And it's all about white out, yeah.
