Every Man has his Prison (Crunch Radio Acoustic Session)

from Magna Doors (Deluxe) by The Shaker Heights

/

about

I wrote this just after having read Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo' which I had loved. I was fascinated with the idea of false imprisonment, and stretched the metaphor to be about our own prison, be it insecurities, self-esteem, whatever it might be. This is the only recorded version, and was never recorded for any sessions, but was given quite a few live airings.

lyrics

Every Man has his Prison (Crunch Radio Acoustic Session)

Yes, I hit my hands upon the ground, they hurt no more.
They show me the way, blind eyes from the days, I feel safer
this way, I'Il be ok.

Still, the whistlers heard beneath the walls of fury made.
One season we share, to be free I wont dare, you'll forget
and won't care what I’m saying.

Every man, every man, every man has his prison
Every man, every man, every man has his prison
And it won't go till you get home.

Every man, every man, every man has his prison
Every man, every man, every man has his prison
And it won't go, and it won't go, till you get home.
