Words to the Open (Remastered)

about

One of my finest compositions that seemed to just arrive out of thin air (I still have the demo where the song 'appears'). The lyric was in part inspired by the death of my grandmother, but also a reflection on the life I was undertaking to be a musician. It was originally recorded as part of the Acoustic sessions vol. 1 but was deemed too good, and so was put on the album. The breakthrough was with the multi-octave vocals.

lyrics

Words to the Open

I know I won’t forget that face, it only fills an empty space
I would run to you, but would I see it through?
I threw an eye on the hanging throne, where all rights and wrongs are overthrown
Let me run to you, I need to see it through.

You know I can’t believe it, you know I can’t believe you’re gone.
You knew I’d never put it right.

Back when I had a little time, to crash a scene that was never mine
I would turn to you, what else was I supposed to do?

And you know I can’t believe it, you know I can’t believe you’re gone.
You knew I’d never put it right.
