Write to me, Buccheimer (Remastered)

from Magna Doors (Deluxe) by The Shaker Heights

/

about

A real favourite of mine. The lyric imagined someone forming a friendship with a penpal (Buccheimer) who lived in Moscow. The friend then becomes distant and stops writing because they have fallen in love with someone. The name 'Buccheimer' just dropped into my head one morning and out of it sprung this little tale and tune.

lyrics

Write to me, Buccheimer

Write to me Buccheimer, send it to me, send it to me, you set
me free.
I heard your requiem to the pennywhistle, the one you sent, on
an old cassette, still we've never met.

Things really have changed Buccheimer, but since you met her
what use is it to you.
Her passions bequeathed was instrumental, to dance in the
shadow of the Red Town Hall.

Relationships can cause inertia of identity, personalities that
once had dreams.

Oh and Buccheimer, I only know you by your written hand.
But now I see she writes it for you, looking how a child would
write in the sand.
